Rebecca Lawrence presents contemporary solo works for double bass

Seattle born and raised double bassist Rebecca Lawrence presents an hour-long concert of contemporary solo works for double bass


The concert will include:

  • Rebecca Saunders: Fury (2005)

  • Patrick Schaefer: umarmungen (2023)

  • Sarian Sankoh: everythingfeelsthesame (2020)

  • Jalalu Kalvert-Nelson: Variations for Solo Bass (2023)

  • Jacob Druckman: Valentine (1969)


Based in Frankfurt, Germany, Rebecca Lawrence is known for her collaborative work as a contemporary and early music double bassist in Europe and the USA. Most at home in creative small ensemble environments, Rebecca is passionate about working with living composers and providing a solid ensemble foundation while imagining new possibilities for the double bass and its predecessors in various contexts. She is a sought-after collaborator with various European contemporary music ensembles including Ensemble Modern and Klangforum Wien. Additionally she studies baroque double bass, violone and viola da gamba in Frankfurt. Rebecca was born and raised in Seattle and received her first bass lessons from Anna Doak at The Bass Church. She continued her studies with Jordan Anderson, followed by David Allen Moore and Paul Ellison at USC, and François Rabbath in Paris.
